Risk Factors Associated with Meibomian Gland Dysfunction: A Hospital Based Study

Introduction: Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) is a chronic diffuse abnormality of the glands often found as result precipitating factors like dyslipidemia, infections, hypertension, diabetes, etc. This study aims to find prevalence various risk which will ultimately help in managing disease and explaining prognosis.
 Materials methods: A hospital based cross-sectional study. total 400 patients with MGD over age 30 were examined. Patients history taking lipid altering drugs, pre-existing ocular comorbidities excluded from study.
 Results: Severity increased ageing. There was significant higher grades hypertensives, diabetics & post-menopausal women. Higher levels LDL cholesterol showed risk. 
 Conclusion: Blood sugar, blood pressure, seen be thus, should kept within normal limits reduce severity disease. Alcohol cigarette consumption avoided even if they didn’t show relationship.
